“I am a progressive Democrat running for Mayor of my hometown. I have a track record of tackling complex challenges, bringing people together, and getting things done.
My values have not changed since I enrolled as a Democrat in Albany at age 18.
City Auditor Dorcey Applyrs recently called me a Republican in a televised debate and her radical activist trolls are repeating the lie. I was registered as a Republican back in the 1980s, at a time when I lived in 6 cities. That was 35 years ago. Interestingly, they neglect to mention that at some point both Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Treasurer Darius Shahinfar were also Republicans.
For 24 years, I was an independent because in Massachusetts you do not need to enroll in a party to vote in a primary. I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate.
I have remained focused on facts, and my qualifications and priorities, which include public safety, economic growth, jobs, housing, and our youth.
Auditor Applyrs has mocked me because I am not a career politician, and she is attempting to divert the focus from the facts about our respective qualifications and performance. The facts are summarized in the table below.
I am running for Mayor because I love this city, but I do not like what the current administration has let it become. Albany wants change. I am a Democrat with a track record of getting things done.”
